About Project HAPPY
Project HAPPY (Healthy Attitudes Produce Positive Youth) was started by Dr. Tami Hendriksz, a pediatrician who is passionate about promoting pediatric health and combating the obesity epidemic through education, clinical service, and community-programs. Students from Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine help to teach the classes, lead the activities, and serve as personal health navigators for the families who participate.
Project HAPPY is a community-based family-centered program that teaches families about healthy living through interactive classes, cooking demonstrations, physical activity sessions, and personal health-navigators.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Project HAPPY took place virtually in the Spring of 2021, & 2022. In Spring 2023 & 2024 we delivered the program in a hybrid format, with some sessions taking place online and others in-person. For our upcoming session, starting in the Spring of 2025, we will continue to partner families with health navigators, complete fun physical activities together, participate in cooking demonstrations, and offer our interactive lessons with more fun, engaging in-person sessions.
If you are interested in participating in the current session of Project HAPPY, please complete an enrollment form.
Participating families will receive nutrition, physical activity, and health education, along with recipes, workbooks, gift cards to buy healthy food, water bottles, and more! Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.
